Blackie is a highly respected player of the Uilleann pipes, based in County Clare. Studying under his father and then with Irish gypsy musicians (including the great Limerick piper Mickey Dunne), Blackie’s virtuosity soon allowed him to play with the best musicians in the country, and audiences are swept away by his exuberant and fast flowing piping style! Enough so, that he has become the face and music of the latest Irish tourism campaign!
If you’ve visited Clare, it’s likely that you’ve run across Blackie’s playing in pubs around Doolin and Ennis. Now is your chance to learn from one of Ireland’s master pipers!
We’re going to split this workshop into two sections. The first hour (Noon-1PM) will be specifically for pipers, and then it will become a general workshop for melody players (1PM-3PM), as Blackie teaches a few tunes and talks about his style.
