Southwest Ramblers – House Concert

As we’ve been winding down the house concert season, another opportunity just presented itself for a show with the Southwest Ramblers!

SW Ramblers - Gig Performance Space

Some of you already know my friend, Dain Forsyth, who resides in Albuquerque, but that’s just the start! The Southwest Ramblers are a four piece Irish music group formed from a chance meeting at the Fleadh Cheoil in Mullingar as they sat down together to play tunes and where an instant connection was formed. Featuring Hughie Kennedy on button accordion, Jason Turk on piano accordion, Grace Broadhead on fiddle and vocals and Dain Forsyth on vocals and bodhran. They draw upon a wide range of Irish music and bring a sparkling virtuosity to each performance.

Hughie Kennedy is a native of Cork City with musical roots coming from both sides of the family.
Since starting the box at the age of 13, he performs regularly for senior dancing competitions, céilís and festivals. Hughie is a regular performer at the Box showcase for the Cork Folk Festival.

Jason Turk is a full time professional musician, composer and music teacher from West Waterford.
Thanks to the mentorship of Bobby Gardiner, Jason has fostered a deep love and respect for Irish traditional music from a young age as well as the technical proficiency to be a multiple all-Ireland medalist.

Both Hughie and Jason have toured extensively with “The Young Irelanders” at various times across America.
Together they have a unique energy and chemistry in their musical interpretation.

Grace Broadhead is an award winning fiddle player and current holder of the Fiddler Of London Diaspora award and also a Fleadh Cheoil winner. Grace has just released her debut album – Tipping The Scales to wide acclaim as she follows in the fiddle stylings of legends Frankie Gavin and Tommy Peoples.

Dain Forsyth is a highly sought after bodhran player and a regular recording session musician in New Mexico featuring on many traditional Irish music and bluegrass albums

After the success of the last Monday night show with Isaac and Gráinne, we decided that Monday would be better than trying to do a show on “session day” (Sunday). They will be doing a general melody workshop for folks who are interested on Sunday afternoon as well. ( for the workshop, and it includes admission to the concert).
